Annual Excursion in Hokkaido

We had the 52nd annual excursion in Hokkaido from 29th, Aug to 4th Sep. We visited Mikasa (Cretaceous sedimentary rocks and fossils), Kamuikotan (high pressure type metamorphic rocks), Sounkyo (Quaternary pyroclastic rocks), Lake Shikaribetsu (volcanic landforms), Hiroo (Cretaceous sedimentary rocks and high temperature type metamorphic rocks), Erimo (Paleogene sedimentary rocks), Horoman (high temperature type metamorphic rocks and peridotite), and Lake Toya (Recent volcanoes).

With observing grand landscapes and dynamic geology, we have learnt tectonic history of Hokkaido and geologic settings of a volcanic arc–trench system.
